Daniel W. Hausman
Escape Velocity
Perhaps heartbreak is the rule
And love the exception
Rising just enough to see the stars
Even for a moment
Long enough to try again
You can find love
And still have a broken heart
You can lose love
And it can still make you smile
Random Thoughts
Have you ever considered
We are the universe
Looking back at itself
In the mirror and thinking
Has that mole always been there?
Not with a Bang
Not with a bang-
I think of old loves
Spurned and spurning
Long hair and short
Naked and clad
The ones where passions burned
And those who were solace
The cold light of the stars
Flickering and weak
Belie the power and violence
Of their birth
So shall we be
Viewed from a distance
A lifetimes journey too short
To reach even the nearest
